Batik Studio
Batik is a centuries-old textile art based on a beautifully simple idea: wax protects the fabric while color is added in layers.
Unlike traditional painting, batik works from light to dark. Each stage requires patience and trust in the process, because the final image only fully reveals itself when the wax is removed.
I work primarily on silk, using natural waxes and transparent pigments to build depth through repeated layers of color. The process allows for both careful drawing and spontaneous textures — from precise lines made with a tjanting tool to organic patterns created with stamps, brushes, and natural materials.
In my studio and workshops, batik becomes more than a technique. It becomes a way of thinking: learning to protect what is important, allowing transformation to happen gradually, and discovering beauty in unexpected results.
Here you’ll find examples of my batik work, upcoming workshops, and resources for those curious about exploring this fascinating medium.
